This year, the American Library Association established as a core value and program priority: Libraries Fostering Resilient Communities. The Nevada State Library recognizes its role to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information regarding the topic of sustainability and resilience. Both the challenge and the opportunity is to help communities, town by town, exchange issues of common concern. Guided by librarians, discussions are more likely to result in discovering solutions that move toward more equitable, healthy and economically viable Nevada communities. Therefore, the Nevada State Library and allied public and private partners in a systematic approach joins the Desert Research Institute’s Science Alive Green Box program to support sustainability through STEM curriculum development; collections; exhibits; events; and communication.
