Soraya is incredibly honored to be serving as the 2018 President for the Nevada Library Association.  She is also the Youth Services Department Head for the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District at the Spring Valley Library which she absolutely loves.

Some professional accomplishments in her career include: Elected to serve on the 2020 Newbery Committee for the American Library Association. Elected as the 2018 Nevada Library Association President. Selected as the 2016 Nevada Librarian of the Year for the Nevada Library Association. Selected as the sole representative for Nevada for American Library Association's Emerging Leaders 2014 Cohort and selected as the sole leader nationally to be sponsored by the Association for Library Services to Children division of ALA. Since 2013, serves as a leader of Storytime Underground, one of the largest youth services organizations in the nation with a mission to champion diversity and inclusion across all fields of librarianship. Graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2011 with her MLIS. As a side note, she is not particularly fond of speaking in 3rd person.
