Meghan Schiedel, School and Museum Programs Manager –Meghan has a master’s in Elementary Education from Portland State University and is passionate about science education.  She has an undergraduate degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.  Meghan has worked for The Discovery since the summer before the museum opened in 2011. Before her time with The Discovery, Meghan worked in the classroom for several years with different age groups. Meghan has an endorsement in English language instruction and cares strongly about working toward equity and access for underserved audiences within the museum industry. Recently she was awarded an Association of Science and Technology Center’s Diversity and Leadership fellowship which provided professional development in leadership and worked to strengthen fellow’s knowledge and skills related to equity and diversity work. Meghan administrates The Discovery’s school programs, including the field trip program serving nearly 20,000 members of our community annually along with the Family Science Nights at The Discovery. She helps develop interdisciplinary and hands-on programming to help engage audiences of all ages at the museum, through facilitated programs. She also contributes to exhibit content development and oversees strategy and tactics for museum staff training.
